Psychotherapy and counseling are, quite simply, service to others and thus that the answer to the question'why do I do it?' Can sound self-serving and maybe even grandiose. During one such moment I found myself musing over the above mentioned question. Goal of Children's Mental Health Awareness Week Children are subject to many different psychological problems. If those are left untreated, the consequences on their health and overall well-being could be negative. Children's Mental Health Awareness Week has been created due to the shocking statistic that 1 in every 5 children have a psychological illness. During this week we invite everyone to increase their voice and talk about this problem. My choice to pursue psychotherapy for a career goal goes back to my own growing up years. My mom was an exceptional listener. It was almost as if I could not quite catch my breath until I'd told her everything and processed the events of my entire life. From her I learned how wonderful it can feel to be completely heard...to have that moment of aid, that instant of being seen and accepted for who you're • Drug abuse And sometimes I think it's a habit, a coping strategy I heard several years ago. Yet other times, I think it's a'calling'. Through nature or nurture I developed certain presents...that the gift of listening, of empathy, of non-judgement, of curiosity, of responsibility. So I feel as though I must make use of these gifts...they're an expression of who I am. While you almost certainly know when your child has a cough or a fever, it's hard to tell if they have a mental illness. So you may believe that they are having a bad day or just not at all a nice mood. But these problems can get considerably worse with time and might lead to serious problems later in life. Also, I work with couples who love each other so deeply but don't have the proper tools to make their relationship work. The mental disorders can range from anxiety and depression to numerous different symptoms. Kids will need to grow up in an environment where there's love, trust and understanding. However in some situations, children are born with such ailments. • Low self-esteem IN CLOSING-- In my dad, I think, I learned the gift of compassion and empathy. My father suffered from epilepsy. His seizures developed when I was a very young girl and were never quite fully controlled by the massive doses of medication he took every day of his life.
